Let them learn the hard way. It’s easier to do when they’re still little, not choke full of hormones, and their responsibilities the next day aren’t schoolwork, but they won’t know they’re tired if they’ve never had to know what “tired” feels like. They’ve just had to go to sleep at a specific time, so to them, “tiredness” has never been part of the equation. So they don’t recognise it. They WILL learn as soon as the bedtime is lifted, but the stakes are a lot higher the older they get.
