@brycecopegolf: How to break 80 ⬇️ 1️⃣ Greens in Regulation: this starts on the tee box. If you’re hitting balls out of play hitting greens in reg will be almost impossible. This is where you need a go to tee shot. It doesn’t have to be the prettiest ball flight, it just has to be repeatable. Worry about improving it in the range and play what works on the course. You can get away with shorter, safer clubs off the tee trying to break 90 but this will usually leave longer clubs into greens. To break 80 you need shorter clubs in to increase the chance of hitting the green. That is where driver needs to become a weapon. From there really focus your practice on the 100-150 yard range and aim to center of greens. 2️⃣ Putting: aim to the center of greens and putt to the corners. You’re going to avoid difficult chip/pitch shots doing this but you’ll have a lot of 25-45 footers. Focus practice on speed control. From this distance you will likely have a lot of 3-5 footers to keep momentum going and avoid 3 putts so that’s the other area to focus on. Don’t waste time in the 12-18 foot range practice wise. You’re unlikely to make these even with practice but also not likely to 3 putt them either so the reward for practicing is next to nothing. 3️⃣ Don’t be a hero: good golf is boring, keep the stress levels low. If you get out of position get back in position in one shot max to avoid doubles and triples. To break 80 you can have 7 bogeys and 0 birdies (on a par 72), you don’t need to take risks at this point.
