@chateausundays: In just 1 hour from Paris, you can be strolling along the waterfront at the enchanting Moret-sur-Loing ☀️ Built in the 12th century, this charming medieval village was once home to kings of France, as well as the renowned impressionist artist Alfred Sisley 🎨 📌 A few things to do while you’re there: • Stroll through the medieval gates that encompass the village • Visit the old mill - originally used to make leather, the mill has been converted to a sawmill, wheat mill and sugar mill throughout the centuries and is now home to the Musee du Sucre d’Orge • Pick up some delicious cheeses at Fromagerie de Moret and chatucterie at Les Saveurs du Loing. Make sure to try the local Fountainebleau cheese as well as le Morétain, a sweet cheese made from local barley sugar • With your picnic, stroll down to the waterfront and cross the bridge to enjoy the views over the village • After lunch, wander through town to visit the cathedral, Alfred Sisley’s house, and 12th century Norman-style keep that overlooks the village • I’d also recommend stopping by La Maison du Sucre d’Orge to try some of the local barley sugar that has been made in the town for over 300 years 📍 To get there, take a 45min train (ligne R) from Gare de Lyon to Moret-sur-Loing. From here, it’s an easy 15 minute walk into town. As Moret-sur-Loing is within Île-de-France, it’s €2.50/person, or free if you have the Navigo pass! I'd also recommend stopping by the Tourist Office right outside the Porte de Samois as you enter the village. They had some great recommendations for sights and walking trails to enjoy. They even had some free local barley sugar to try ☺️
