I like core drilling a 2" hole in post. About a foot from drilling through post. I put a steel pipe in the ground first then the post over pipe. Then add cement. Just in case kids wanna go bashing mailboxes 😉 surprise

No concrete, just use 1/4” gravel and pack it around the post. Has a little give if the neighbor backs into it and much easier to replace when it gets snapped off…

I replaced mine about 9 years ago. I just dug about a 3 foot hole, put in treated post and compacted the dirt back in and hasn't moved an inch. If I ever replace I won't have any concrete to mess with.
