@curiousaboutvietnam: I’ve been coming back to Bánh Mì Phượng for over 10 years. The first time I had their sandwich, it left a serious mark on my taste buds and it’s still solid after all these years. What really makes it stand out is the sauce. A four-part combo of homemade mayo, minced pork sauce, homemade soy sauce, and their incredible chili jam. There’s always been this big ongoing debate: Bánh Mì Phượng or Madam Khánh. Who’s better? Honestly, this time I felt shrink-flation hit Phượng hard. The sandwich looked a bit light on fillings compared to Madam Khánh’s, which was fully packed. But the taste didn’t lie. Even with less meat, that first bite still hit the spot. At one point, this place dominated the town after Anthony Bourdain made it famous. They went through a rough patch and lost some of the spotlight, but now it feels like they’re back in the game.
