@dykanite: Gneiss- this is a metamorphic rock meaning it was subjected to extremely high temperatures and pressures! Most of the time these have really nice banding and you can see some on the other side of this one Stalactite- these are the dripping structures that form in caves and hang down from the ceiling. They are made usually of calcium salt deposits left behind by dripping water Garnet!!! This is my favorite mineral and can form a few different ways but mostly in metamorphic and some igneous igneous rocks Pyrite: This is also called fools gold and is mostly found in sedimentary rocks (ie rocks made from breakdown of other rocks). Microbes play a big role in the formation which is why pyrite can be found in some really interesting environments like hydrothermal vents and cave systems #rocks #fishing #crystals #tinder #gay #wlw
Loving crystals since my childhood, stalactites are my dreamed piece in my collection.

Hey I have a question about magnetic abnormalities and idk who to even begin asking about it. Specifically along the coast of the Outer Banks just north of Hatteras? I'm a sailor and noticed it on my chart navigating today. Do you know what would cause this? Maybe a high density of Iron in the sand/sediment of the beach? or is it geologic and farther down?
