Many parents think rewarding a child for praying takes away from the sincerity of it. But the truth is that sometimes a small incentive is the bridge to a habit that becomes their own. When my children were 11, 9 and 7, every Fajr was a battle. So I offered fifteen minutes of their favourite video game for waking up easily, making wudu and praying with me. Six years later, the deal is long forgotten, and they still wake for Fajr, because they have felt the barakah it brings. So ask yourself honestly: what do my children see me treat as truly important? What happens in our home when Fajr is missed? At 5 Before 5 Solutions, we remind parents that children learn worship by watching it lived, and that a gentle start can grow into a lifelong love.
