have you tried the freestanding tub rough in kits? had the same problem you're dealing with and know that's all I'll use. the tailpiece drops right into a boot and there's no where for a leak to go but down the drain.

Real question: We set the exact same tub, no problem. A few weeks later we get a call from the new owner. Guy weighs 250+lbs. He sat on the edge of the tub and it tipped over. The thing was silicone around the bottom, didn't help. We fixed it, but asking if there isn't a good anchoring system for free standing tubs? I often use a thinset/mortar combo for other fixtures.

It wasn’t the drain on our tub it was the fricken faucet that broke a line and caused 60k in water damage in our basement while we were on vacation!

we were doing some apartments had that issue over and over but we were able to slide that tailpiece into the drain body and sweat it there. As long if it works right👍aggravating but good job ole son

Just did one exact same tub and drain basket. We silicone under the top gasket (right under chrome basket) and silicone between the tub and the second gasket. And silicone our drain as lube. Never had any leaks. Some people use dope and tape too

Use the abs tubular brother and putative never used the brass and haven’t had a leak yet
