@upcyclerevivalco: Here’s how I achieved this luxurious Pottery Barn finish for less than $100: 1. PAINT BASE COAT: After sanding and priming, I did two coats of paint in the color Plymouth Brown by Benjamin Moore. 2. GEL STAIN: Next I applied gel stain working in small sections. I used Minwax gel stain in the color Coffee and applied using a foam roller. You don’t have a ton of working time with a gel stain so it’s important to do smallish sections. 3. TEXTURE: Here’s the part where I got to play! I used an old wallpaper brush and the short, stiff bristles were perfect for creating this wood grain texture. I moved the brush up and down until I was happy with the look. For the small crevices I used a cheap chip brush. 4. SEAL: After letting the gel stain cure overnight, I sealed it with two coats of polyurethane. Usually these finishes use a glaze, which I’ve also used before. But for a darker, richer look, I prefer the gel stain. #potterybarn #diyhome #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover #refinishedfurniture
