What I pack my 2-year-old for nursery as a mum who refuses to make ultra-processed food the default. This is what he’s eating this week: Lamb curry with carrot and butternut squash. Greek yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries and flax seeds. Mediterranean-style pasta with aubergine, peppers, courgette and beef mince, made with lentil rigatoni. And a packet of raisins because I’m not trying to raise a child who thinks food has to be “perfect”. No separate “kids food”. No beige freezer meals. No sugary cereal just because he’s a toddler. He eats what we eat, and I genuinely believe starting early makes eating real food so much easier. And before anyone says “my child would NEVER eat that” — neither did mine overnight. It’s about what you repeatedly offer, not expecting them to love everything immediately. I’d love to know what you’re packing for nursery.
