@cherry_day_art: Replying to @Megan Gaskins398 Underpaintings have been used since about the 14th century. It was traditionally done with an earth tone color to establish value and composition. Some modern artist, like myself, have moved to using a bright neon colored base! The pink pokes through in the final painting and creates a nice cohesive element.
