I think you just answered your own question with 2 questions actuall, we wanna branch out and try knew things but the fact that it might not even compare to how good your favorite dish is not worth the risk, cuz if it’s a disappointing dish, our mood will be messed up for the rest of the day (for me at least) and I’d rather not be grouchy🙂‍↕️so trying something from your close friend/significant other’s dish is the safest way to do that, I don’t totally agree on taking over someone else’s food cuz I know I wouldn’t mind giving a little but would be upset if they just started taking😭 I hope this helps answer your questions 🙏

I have my husband order first most of the time, that way I know the general “what can I get?” (I was raised to only be able to get dollar menu/cheapest) and that also gives me a better idea of what I want. We always decide what we want before we order and we talk about it and if his order sounds better to me than his, then I change my order to his but with my preference depending on what it is. I ALWAYS offer for him to try my food, but I don’t always take his offer in return. My act of love is to share, but then I feel bad if I take from others lol
