@honest_2_betsy: On more than one occasion, the Greyhound bus driver threatened to leave them on the side of the road because they were fighting…because they were BABIES! #CapCut #genx #millennial

You gotta think about the fact that 100 years ago parents used to mail their kids across the country. Pay postage and put them on a train for days at a time

My mom put me on a plane to Jamaica every summer from the time I was 8 until 16 to visit relatives. By myself on Continental Airlines.

There was a rise in serial killers in the 70's and 80's? Ya don't say. Like were we the first generation to survive?! No wonder they said we were "coddled" we weren't just thrown to the wolves.

We all did things like that. We were all fine. I knew kids who died in car accidents, drowned at a cookout at a lake, died in a house fire w their parent. Not one kid was hurt riding the bus by themselves

When i was in fifth grade i rode a public bus for over an hour with a transfer downtown back and forth to school every day. This was ~’77.

Yeah. Born in ‘74. This story is definitely not beyond the realms of possibility.

I’m also a geriatric millennial. I was able to fly as an unaccompanied minor at age 10 from Ohio to Virginia after visiting my Aunt. But my sisters who are 6&7 years younger than me weren’t allowed to go alone anywhere until they had their drivers licenses.

I used to babysit very small children and babies when I was 11-12 at night. Made popcorn on the stove and we all went to the park😁

My parents stuck me on a plane when I was 3. Flew to see my grandparents alone. Every summer. On a plane. With a change of flights in the middle of it.

I need to know birth years of all involved please. I’m a mid-1978 baby and I always feel like I’m fully straddling that elder millennial/Gen X bridge. My parents never would have put me on a bus alone, but they sure wouldn’t care if I disappeared in the woods with neighborhood kids all day.

They did a six generation study of a Boston family and had them map how far they were allowed to go by themselves at the age of 6. Every generation had a smaller circle than the one before. 😢

As the baby in my family, too, I genuinely don't think this is generational, but rather parents making all the mistakes with the older kids. The first one is just for practice, after all. 🤣

As an elder millennial, I could walk home or go out until the lights were on as a kid living on a military base in Germany. My younger millennial siblings wouldn’t go across the street with my parents in Alabama.

The toughest one you know! I definitely had those types of experiences in the 80s! As I tell my kids I don’t know what responsible parenting looks like. I’m just doing my best.
