And I know what you guys are gonna say! “Go get those babies!” I wish it were that simple. I’m not animal control. I’m not law enforcement. I’m not even a licensed rescue. I’m literally just a girl who loves dogs. So when I come across posts like this, I have to play this weird game. My instinct is to tell them exactly how disgusting it is that these puppies are days old, still nursing, and they’re already trying to get rid of them because they ‘just want them gone.’ But I can’t do that because the second I go against the grain I’ll be blocked, insulted and even threatened. Then I lose any chance of helping. So instead I have to pretend I’m just another interested buyer. I ask questions nicely. I act oblivious. I try to build enough trust that maybe… just maybe… they’ll let me take mom and the puppies, but I already know how it’s probably going to end. They’ll either want hundreds of dollars for dogs they don’t even care about or they’ll simply tell me no. But if I come in angry I’ve guaranteed I can’t help at all. And that’s the part people don’t see. It’s not just frustrating, it’s exhausting. Because after the conversation ends I’m left wondering what happened to those puppies. Did they stay with mom long enough? Did they end up in good homes? Were they dumped? I usually never get those answers. Not sure what I’m gonna say back yet but I pray this mama and her babies are protected no matter what! 🥺
