Stressors don't always just take place in the mind, they can also show up in the body. It's not always something you can just "choose" or "think" your way out of because our bodies have an automatic response to coping with stress. Some of these coping mechanisms we have learned from our childhood or from other experiences throughout our lifetime. Either way, our subconscious mind is always trying to protect us and keep us safe. Since you can't always think your nervous system into a state of regulation, when stress manifests in the body, your whole body needs to be shown that it is safe. That is why I am learning (and feeling) that these things aren't so "woo woo" When our breathe is shallow it can signify or keep us in that state of stress. Has anyone ever told you to take a deep breathe when you're overwhelmed? That is because deep breathing can help activate your parasympathetic nervous system to help signal to your brain that you are safe. It gets more oxygen flowing to your body also. Meditation helps to ground you in the present moment & increase your awareness around your thoughts, feelings, & body allowing you to be in the present. Yoga can also help you release tension that is caused when we feel stress. Remember, our bodies are always trying to protect us and keep us safe. Think of the response your body has when someone jumps out of no where and scares you. You clench and create tension in effort to protect yourself. This is why you can feel pain or tension if you are constantly stressed and in survival/protective mode. These methods can help bring more peace & safety to your system. #bodymindsoul #mindbodyconnection #mindbodyhealing #mindbodyhealing #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing #guthealingprocess #guthealingjourney #restanddigest #restanddigestforgoodguthealth #holistichealing #holisticnutritionist #spiritualawakening #levelofconsciousness #yoga #breatheworkhealing #breathework #chronicstress #chronicpain #chronicstressrecovery #woowoo
