@allseated.in.abarn: A month ago when we were at the local auction, we were approached by a girl who was not allowed to sell this horse through the auction. We purchased her for $300 and immediately took her home to our facility in California, I was terrified she wasn’t going to make it to hour and a half drive. She was literally the skinniest horse I have ever seen. We had our vet out and had her bloodwork ran and since have had her on our re-feeding program. These skinny horses terrify me. They either make it through or they don’t. Sometimes their bodies are too far gone that the tiniest amount of nutrition causes them to shut down and fail. Thankfully and luckily Sarah is doing really good. She has started to lose her coat, which is a good sign because it means she is absorbing the nutrients we need her too so that she can grow a brand new healthy coat. You can also see the difference in her weight, although small, she is gaining weight and you can see the life back in her eyes. She’s a handful to hand walk if you can believe that! Sarah is another example of why we rescue. Why we intake. Without the knowledge and resources and capabilities to help these horses they wouldn’t stand a chance. I’ll never say no if someone reaches out to me to help a horse in this condition. Ever. She needed us and we are there for her every step of the way! ❤️

The people who starved this beautiful horse should be thrown in jail and prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law!!! Actually I believe as punishment they should get the same treatment that.they did to Sarah. I believe that’s fair.
