There’s something important i feel about crafting your own loops and rhythms that are fully your own, i guess it just shows passion for the craft and your own identity of sound - rather than just putting together loops and calling it your own

Can someone please explain what the “rules” are when it comes to producing and using samples? Like do they need to be altered a certain amount? Do most sounds need to all be from personal sound design? New producer here would love some insight!

I agree with what’s been said, sampling is obviously part of the creative process. But at this level, when it’s your main activity, you have every opportunity to truly reinterpret the sample. That’s also a valuable learning exercise.

when you build a house, you use tools and concrete and machines to build it, but you are the builder. these are tools, it's up to you to build your songs. you get as much credit building your song than a builder building your house.
