hair and makeup usually is up to coach, you can put it up to captains, but if you want final say then you get it, but if you ask for no wispys, be prepared for wispys anyway

Spirit stick you can get for be high energy, respectful in classes, engaging in classes. Decorate people just put ribbon and stuff on it. Some teams put their colors on it some just do random it’s up to you

We do not do paint on the legs. We have school owned uniforms…we don’t get new ones but every 4 yrs or more..so no on the paint.

UCA staff here! Our theme this year is adventure!! So maybe like pilots or safari something adventure! Painting on legs is a game day tradition we did it when I cheered in high school it’s just a school spirit thing

as a cheerleader, for hair and makeup it’s usually more laid back for games and pep rallies but for comps its usually slicked back either high pony or low pony and full glam with red lip

UCA has a cheer team and tik tok. Go look them up!! They’re known for being extra clean (clean moves, clean transitions, clean esthetics) but always with a smile!!

If a choreographer posts something they came up with on social media they are usually okay with people using it for pep events and sideline dances or cheers, but you will definitely want to have original choreo for comps.

We attend NCA. The material taught at camp is the material they will be evaluated on each night. Some of it is on YouTube 🤫 just pretend you never saw it. It's a game day cheer, band chant, game day chant, etc. typically prior to camp they will release the schedule of what is to be evaluated on each evening. One thing you may want to prep for is a pyramid, formations you'd use, incorporating signs and Poms, etc. As for football season, yea everyone uses others cheers and chants for those FNL or your team may already have a set they have been using. I add stunts or jumps into some of our cheers and chants to engage the crowd.

Game day was half up half down simple ribbon bow not big top of head bow, or low pony simple ribbon bow NO wispies I get them feeling self conscious and that stinks but they look SO sloppy from the stands. Coaches picked outfits and hair bc then the girls could just dislike us I stead of fighting about it among themselves:)

Coach and former UCA staffer here! Spirit sticks are given to teams everyday at camp if they are respectful to the people around them, on time, kind, going all in, being safe, etc.. I’ve seen teams wrap their sticks in ribbons/wrapping paper, put little pom poms on them, sign them, even turn them into little UCA staff stick figures!

so GameDay paint isnt allowed per our coaches instructions its just another way to decorate the sidelines but we do mix glitter with hairgel so it's easy to put on and get off without making it look messy

The paint on the leg is just for fun, to match a game day theme. A lot of the time the students are able to dress up more than the cheerleaders for theme games because the cheerleaders are in uniform. Sometimes paint, accessories etc. is their only way of being involved in the theme 😊

as a current cheerleader I can give you some norms and things most teams do! for camp we never decorated our spirit sticks we just had a glass case in the gym with all of our awards. camp warm ups are with the UCA staff. theme night is dressing up for the theme and you do a bunch of games with it. performance hair is normally slick back high or mid ponytail but for games we change it up for the game theme like space night we did space buns and we've done 2 ponies for country. makeup is normally up to the cheerleaders if they want it or not but I know a lot of teams have a no red lipstick rule and like don't go overboard with makeup. and finally YES you can copy cheers! many teams have the same ones but change the words for their team and sometimes motions!

Competition hair I love love love high pony tails facing forward no whispies. Bobbie pins and the comfy pony holders I buy a giant bag on Amazon. For camp days it is a long day and they get a headache so we do low pony with a long thin tail bow. I allow any girl with braids to go low pony or as long as it’s pulled back. It damages their hair. I also have a nyx lipstick that’s a true blue red it’s two sided and has a set gloss over it. They have one that doesn’t come off.

Former HS cheer coach! you can decorate the spirit stick how you want! Tape, paint, Gems etc. Theme day is what UCA/NCA decide! so ASK! We had 50’s! Camp warms them up!! Hair how YOU as a coach wants it! I always do slick back high pony. Make up again what YOU want. You can copy cheers! A lot of schools have similar cheers! I youtube cheers and dances all the time as a non competing team!

My spirit sticks are in my trophy case, and you won’t bring home one that you’ve decorated. Every night just add something to it. We go all out night one then just add to each different one we get. Camp does warm them up, but we get early and do our normal warm up first. Our hair is always slick back, no wispys. Barely any make up because I don’t want it on my uniforms.
