as a white person that is partially uneducated on black hair types- a respectable question/ why do “protective styles” seem so unprotective to me? tight braids pulling hair from the scalp, a style like the one in this video creating knots that have to kinda be forcibly combed out etc etc.? i guess my next question is , how are they protective? does it help with dryness, or just so you’re not brushing and brushing and brushing your hair every day ripping it and stuff ? anyone that answers thanks :)
