@imvictorialawson: We've been quietly recording this journey from the very beginning, something for Haven to look back on one day. And today, I felt like sharing a little piece of it with you too. I've seen some comments about Haven's birth mom and her story, and I want to say this clearly: she is brave. She made the courageous choice to give life, and then, unimaginably, to entrust that life to us. She gave everything of herself to make sure her daughter was safe and loved. We honor her for that every single day. Adoption is beautiful, but it is also born out of loss. All adoption carries trauma. For a baby, even just the absence of the scent they've known from the womb is a wound. And for a woman, being in a place where she cannot raise her child is a deep heartbreak. We are experiencing the joy of a daughter while also grieving both her loss and her birth mama's. Now, as we hold Haven in our arms, we are overwhelmed. We are honored. We are humbled to love her the way God loves us. God chose us in our brokenness and loved us, not because He had to, but because He wanted to. He loves us unconditionally. Fiercely. Forever. We are so grateful to show Haven that kind of love. And I am deeply humbled that through this process, God has allowed me to understand more of His love for me. #adoption #christian #parenting
