I would want to be able to run away if I want.. so for me date 1 would need to be a short date. Drinks or a walk & a coffee. For a 2nd date when I know I’m interested dinner! (I’m married I dont know why Im answering this! 🤣)

Dinner is not an indicator of investment. It may make you FEEL important, but I promise most men don’t care about a dinner. I think it’s all about him taking the time to understand you & your needs. Dinner is clearly a need for you so that makes sense for YOU.

it may depend on the type of dating, for me a “drink” (im sober but didnt matter) was the perfect amount of time to see if someone off of hinge was weird or if i wanted to continue the night. i met my husband this way! we talked for hours. a full dinner would have been a waste of time with most of the men I met

Dinner isnt and investment for me. Dinner is basic to me. You have men who will drop thousands on Dinner and still cheat. I prefer a meet and an experience.

Even if we're going for dinner/a meal I would always do a drink or coffee beforehand (depending on time of day) as a quick vibe check to allow either party to bounce if they wish

I think it depends how much you know eachother beforehand. If you were friends or coworkers it is nice going with more special vibe to show you are interested and make a change from your regular encounters. But if you met on dating apps or just know eachother shortly, something more casual lets you get to know eachother while beeing able to easily end it sooner if the fit is not good. Also, in my oppinion, it is more effort to organise an activity that other person will like than generic restaurant
