Ospreys migrating separately but meeting back up at the nest the following year is pretty notable too!

I’m trying not to anthropomorphize, because I know it’s all just for practical reasons- but you love to see it! 🥰

So interesting! I believe Sandhill Cranes mate for life. We have lots here in S Florida and I always see pairs, and parents with 1-2 offspring come spring-summer. They are not afraid of humans, either.

what happens when one of the partners dies, does the remaining birds stay single for life or do they look for a new mate?

According to the internet, the Flicker pair I’ve been watching out my upstairs window are also lifelong partners unless one passes. They’re so cute and take turns on the nest. I don’t think the eggs have hatched yet , but any day now.

This swan couple lives in a pond near my house -they comeback every year and hatch and raise their babies and all fly away together in the fall 😭❤️❤️It's just a little pond with a small island in the middle.

growing up my parents had an old cabin in Manitoba and there were so many bald eagles on our lake. it was really cool watching the same bald eagle pairs coming back to their nests year after year raising babies

This is so cool. I thought eagles re-test their mate each year to confirm the partner is still.worthy... but maybe I'm remembering this wrong.
