I wish I would have blew your phone up to check on you again yesterday.. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for Black men ages 10–24.We just lost lil poppa, a young man that was very dear to me, and my heart is heavy. As a Black woman, I need to say this with love: please be gentler with our young Black men. So many of them are hurting in silence. So many don’t feel safe enough to open up without worrying that their feelings will be gossiped about, minimized, or thrown back in their faces later.Black men carry pain quietly because they don’t feel safe enough to open up. They’re afraid their feelings will be laughed at, dismissed, or used against them later. So they bottle it up. They suffer silently. That silence is costing lives. Our men deserve safe spaces. They deserve confidentiality. They deserve compassion. They deserve to cry, to feel, to say “I’m not okay” without being judged.Mental health is real. Depression is real. The pressure to “be strong” all the time is heavy. Let’s protect our young Black men emotionally the same way we say we want to protect them physically. Check on them. Listen without judgment. Keep their vulnerability sacred. To any Black man reading this: your life matters. You are not weak for struggling. You are human. And you are needed here. I love you forever and after lil poppa, may you rest in eternal peace. ****THIS MESSAGE IS NOT EXEMPTING ANY OTHER RACE OR GENDER. It's simply speaking on the statistics of young black males which is the category that lil poppa falls under. #lilpoppa #fyp #MentalHealth
