Also it's INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. Remember, your opponent has some degree of precognition. If they predict what you're doing, you become *incredibly* vulnerable

it just wouldn't work in a real fight lol you don't aim for a sword you aim for the body if you turn off the Lightsaber the opponent would cut you in half

it wouldn't even work though at best you would both die it takes too long to retract most blocks in a sword fight are fairly small movements and if your opponent turns their sword off you have more than enough time to stab them

I think it's really interesting, that one side sees it as cowardly and the other side sees it as devious. Head Canon wise when the sith say it is cowardly they're saying like how the Jedi or cowardly, and the Jedi see it as devious like they see the sith part devious.
Also the technique would be completely useless actually and like actual combat, if we specifically take out the whole space wizard thing. This is mostly because taking away your weapon even for a split second is really really bad in an actual fight.

I get why ppl are confused by Trakata of all things. The rest got explained as part of the premise of the universe, but people not being rational or objective enough to try a good idea isn't explained away by the premise of the universe
