@abc7chicago: A 10-year-old boy died after he choked on food at a Chicago school, according to his family. Parents Travis and Lakeisha Jones-Townsend said their son Kody Townsend had an Individual Education Plan due to seizures and a developmental delay that required constant supervision at school. The Clissold Elementary School student died on October 18, according to a new lawsuit issued by the family. The parents allege in the lawsuit that he wasn't supervised when he choked on food at school and later died at a local hospital.
so many questions. but its simple. the school neglected their responsibility to look after him. they should be prosecuted.

Schools are just another business; they don’t care for their students. And unfortunately the special needs children are the most vulnerable to their lack of attention. May their parents find Peace and Justice 😞😞😞

To help prevent things like this be involved in your child’s life especially school, know the teachers by name know the principal know who’s on the board of education know the school curriculum policy and procedures

Schools will act like they are responsible with a full staff and meanwhile they are leaving children unattended. Please being justice and peace for this family.

What was the proper protocol when something like this happened because I’m sure they didn’t just watch nobody can watch a child choking

In all honesty, a lot of CPS school do not possess that type of training. They do not require Seca’s to be CPR trained or know what to do when a student is chocking. In all honesty, if my kid was disabled and had challenges, I would not put them in a CPS school it would be a school that is suffice t enough to deal with these type of problems and issues.
