by the colour itself I can tell it's not a ruby. Ruby has that fuschia pink to it. all I can say is the red from ruby isn't as satisfying as almandine garnet or spinel

Rubies tend to be pinkish in colour. What most people think of as “ruby red” is garnet red but that sounds less glamorous 🤷🏻♀️

😮😮😮 that's so cool! what about the sale tho? is there a price difference between a Ruby and a Spinel? was it just a misunderstanding on the seller's part? and will anything happen from the misunderstanding or is it all just chill

I was guessing garnet. I've not seen a lot of natural ruby's that look like that. not to say they can't but garnets tend to be a lot more common. it's a beautiful ring regardless

fun fact! back in ancient times red spinels were mistaken for rubys so often that many famous jewelry pieces have spinels and not rubys :)

Actually, red spinels and rubies have been confused for years, since they’re found in the same locations! Historically, some famous rubies belonging to royal families have been accurately identified as red spinels.

anybody recommend any red colored gemstones for day to day wear for a wedding ring other than rubies?(nothing against them, just curious yo know if there's more) I know garnet is awfully weak but is there any strong ones?

Do you guys buy vintage jade pieces? I have an old jade pin I inherited but I don’t have use for it and I’d love it to be transformed into something wearable to give it a new life for someone else! Your page is my favorite jewelry page on TikTok!
