@ohhowcivilized: I’m a tea sommelier and the secret to making the best iced tea is to cold brew it. Cold brewing is steeping tea in cold water for a few hours in the refrigerator. I’ve tasted and tested all the different ways of making iced tea, and cold brewing is by far the best. Cold brewing is the easiest way to make iced tea, but it does take several hours. It’s also sweeter, smoother, and not at all bitter. And as a bonus, cold brewing doesn’t involve hot water so it’s perfect to make in the hot summer months. Here I made 5 different cold brew teas using tea sachets. You can use tea bags or loose tea if you want. It’s a good idea to label the teas so you always know which tea is which, especially if you’re making more than one kind of tea. Put tea and cold or room temperature water into a pitcher or glass container. Cover and place in the refrigerator overnight for 8-12 hours. You can’t really mess this up since it’ll taste great whether you cold brew it for 8 hours or 40 hours. Take out the tea sachets and it’s done. I like to drink cold brew without any ice since it’s already chilled but add ice if you want to keep it colder for longer.
