I’m a professor. I stopped requiring documentation long ago. If a student misses class or needs to miss, I just ask that they talk to me about it so I can make sure they stay on track.

My freshman developed UC had no idea came home with a hemoglobin of five. Took him to the emergency room needed to be in the hospital for six days professors still failed him. 😑

As an adjunct professor, THANK YOU 😭 the medical excuses are getting out of hand (and I do work with students as much as humanly possible). I told a student I needed documentation of his 2 week hospital stay. He sent me a visit summary for an ER visit from a month earlier 🤪

this is so scary. im an RN, this semester i had to take FMLA from work and fell behind in all my classes. i almost took the F grade thinking they wouldn't be lenient. to think people are lying about that is scary

I called my doctor and asked to schedule an appointment. They asked what was wrong. I told them I was not feeling well and took a day off and my employer wanted a letter. They faxed me the letter without requiring an appointment. I would hope a school would not get authorities involved. Shameful.

Question… if I saw a patient and the school called to confirm, I would just state I cannot confirm or deny that individual is a client without an ROI. Are Dr’s able to release info to schools without an ROI? (I know that you referred to forged letters of non patients, but I was curious)
