I wonder if Mosaic Down syndrome is actually more common than we realize. There are many people with Trisomy 21 - I bet it’s more common than science is currently testing.

I love the fact that your geneticists were so interested in this genetic mystery that they just did the testing for free- I can totally picture doctors sitting around going “I HAVE to know! Let’s just cover the test ourselves!” 😂

All of our children have had DS. We have had two live births with DS and 3 miscarriages. My wife has translocation of her 14th & 21st. We also adapted our 3rd who also has DS.

So in hospitals and doctor’s offices they say “bew-cal,” but if you go to a dentist or orthodontist you’ll hear “buckle.” I think it’s just one of those words like either or neither where we’re all right!

My husband has Mosaic Neurofibromatosis Type 2 - they tested him three different ways and they came back negative and then they tested a nerve out of his spinal cord and it was positive. He only gets tumors in his brain and spinal cord.

Some of these comments are horrible. I’m so sorry. Suggesting it’s not ok for someone to have a child because they may have a disability is ableist. It’s ok to be disabled people! It’s ok for disabled people to exist in the world. Be kinder.
