ABC News reviewed transcripts from Cornell’s 12-day disciplinary hearing. On May 29, 2025, Jane Doe told the panel Cornell had gone from her dream school to the place where she was “raped and tormented.” She described being coerced into ketamine use, recalled men moving in and out of a dark room, said she remembered multiple respondents sexually assaulting her, and acknowledged there are parts of that night she may never recover. She asked Cornell to remove the respondents because she wanted the campus safer for others. The men gave sharply different accounts. Some said the sexual activity was consensual. Others said they were present but did not participate. All seven deny wrongdoing. But here is the part that should make everyone furious: ABC reports Cornell’s Title IX investigative results were NOT shared with Tompkins County prosecutors. Cornell spent months investigating. Witnesses were interviewed. Evidence was gathered. A 12-day hearing happened. Findings were made. And prosecutors did not receive that Title IX body of work. Important distinction: Cornell Police separately offered prosecutors its own investigative materials, and ABC reports the DA’s office declined to review them. These were separate investigative tracks. But that does not make the larger question disappear. How did Cornell accumulate one body of evidence while prosecutors were operating without it? Did anyone ask for it? Could Jane Doe authorize release? Did Cornell ever say, “We found more. You need to see this”? Were there legal, privacy, or policy barriers? Or did everyone stay in their own lane while nobody made sure the full picture reached the people making criminal decisions? At some point, “separate systems” stops being an explanation. It becomes the failure. Map the information flow. Name the gaps. Explain the handoffs. Because this is no longer just a Cornell 7 story. It is a systems-failure story. #cornell #cornell7 #titleix #campusaccountability #institutionalfailure
