from what I was told plugs that are upside down means it is for the light switch. so you know what plug works with the light switch.

2 Reasons. In a standard house, they’re connected to the switch in the room. In condos, active adult & nursing homes, it’s reduced tripping hazards as the plug comes out easier if tugged on. 🤓

The electrical code allows for it to be installed either way. Plus most electrical devices are arranged to be plugged in the “wrong” way
