Mine ate Royal Canine. I think they have a weight loss. Also, my dog was allergic to chicken 🙃 and sooooo much has chicken. So yes, I did have to buy from the vets.

It is definitely overwhelming and there’s a lot of information out there. Not to knock vets, but I would not go off their recommendation because that is not their specialty and typically vets. Try to push a certain brand because they get kicked back off that brand. Best of luck!

I switched from purina pro plan to Merrick salmon and brown rice. purina switched it's formula in January 2025. Mid February all 3 of my dogs started itching when they previously had no allergies. my border collie died with liver cancer shortly after. Also, a probiotic helps the immune system and allergies. i use better wild.

Check out open farm. It is a high-quality brand and a very transparent company. Unfortunately most dog food is equivalent to feeding your dog fast food every day and I’m so glad to hear that you’re switching from purina.

I only ever feed my dogs large dog pedigree steak & veggies and given them Milk Bone Chicken Dog Treats. Even when I was growing up my dogs were only fed large dog pedigree steak & veggies and given them Milk Bone Chicken Dog Treats. My dad’s dog that he got when he moved to Washington in early 1990s only ate large dog pedigree steak & veggie and given them Milk Bone Chicken Dog Treats then ever since only large dog pedigree steak & veggies dog food for my dogs and Milk Bone Chick dog treats
