A shopper accused the store of disrespect for selling bacon near the Halal section #fyp #viral #new #breakingnews
“Does the cruelty ever stop in that place,” one commenter remarked on the video. A British tourist has sparked criticism after complaining about the prices and quality of drinks at a café near the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial in Poland. Lynne’s TikTok video, viewed more than four million times, shows she and her daughter talking about paying around £9 for a smoothie and a small bottle of lemonade, labelling it as “very expensive”. She also criticised the café for not offering decaffeinated coffee or alternative milks. The comments have created backlash from viewers who said the complaints were insensitive given Auschwitz’s history. More than 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, were murdered at the Nazi concentration and extermination camp during the Second World War. Lynne later defended her comments, arguing that the café is separate from the former camp and that visitors need access to food and drinks during long tours. She suggested that “when you come to Auschwitz, bring some food and drink.” In the follow up video, she posed the question: “Do you think Auschwitz is at fault here for making money out of a death camp?” and highlighted the “abuse” she received from her original video critiquing the restaurant. A spokesperson for the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum said the restaurant was operated by an external provider and that prices are clearly displayed. “For us, the essential point remains that people come to the Auschwitz Memorial to learn about the history of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp, to confront the fate of its victims and to commemorate them,” they told The Times.
