Maryam Al- Astrulabi (d 998) - hand-crafted intricate & innovative astrolabe designs. 4. Dahma bint Yahya (d 1434)- taught jurisprudence. Also proficient in grammar, poetry, logic, astronomy & chemistry. 5. Sutayta Al-Mahamali (d 987) - excelled in literature, jurisprudence, hadith & mathematics (arithmetics & successoral calc). She was also an Expert Witness in modern terminology. 6. Rayhana bint Al-Hasan (c 11th century) - astrology studies with Al-Biruni. 7. Buran of Baghdad (807-884) - astrology. 8. Al-Hakam's Astronomer (c 10th century). 9. Maryam Al-Zenatiyyah (d 1356) - chemistry & poetry. 4. Medical Rufaida Al-Aslamia - both the 1st female Muslim nurse (the 1st known nurse in history) & the 1st female surgeon in Islam. 5. Politics 1. Nusaybah bint Ka'ab - known as The Shield of the Prophet. She fought in numerous battles eg Uhud, Hunain & Yamamah. 6. Economics 1. Khadijah Khuwaylid (7th Century Arabia) was a delicate, intelligent, sharp, honorable & highly respected tradeswoman. Should there be a true & pure definition of the word feminist - Khadija RA shud be introduced as a truly awesomely fierce & the 1st Islam's feminist. She owned a vast estate, largest trading business within her tribe. Her business deals spanned throughout Mecca, Bahrain, Busra, Jerusalem (the Prophet met a Jewish priest under a tree & a cloud), Damascus, Dubai, Abyssinia, Yemen etc. She gave her worldly riches to the poor & orphans, to the widows/ the sick. 2. Al-Shifa Muawiz was a Medina market auditor elected during the time of 2nd Caliph Umar Al-Khattab. Others well-known merchant women incl. Umm Al-Munzir Qays, Asmah Makhzemah, Khaula & bint Makhramah
