I was shamed for using the food pantry because I pay almost 1k a month…. To stay alive. I put $942 a month towards my chemo treatments and medications. It’s only that low because I was connected to an organization that has helped tremendously with the monthly cost. But I still have to pay rent, utilities etc. and our car broke down so uber is costing us a ton. The food bank is literally the only reason I have enough for my son to eat. I only eat a few times a week to make sure we have enough for him. And I have people talking down to me because if I can afford treatment I should be able to afford food…… I honestly hate it here. People really suck sometimes.

If people stop using the food banks their lose their funding due to lack of use. There’s nothing wrong with using them. There is so much food waste in the US that food banks are a great way to pass along the extra to those who will use it.
