For me on the tour, I use a foundation that’s a shade lighter than my normal foundation and lean more into the glam! I wish I could go full Sheryl Lee Ralph though!😍

question! specifically for big, popular broadway productions like Wicked. why not hire makeup artists? are budgets that tight? is it just tradition? do the big name actors and set design eat up most of the budget?

Personally w/ the makeup it doesn't seem like they want the purple to read truly as purple. Maybe she was styled in rococo makeup. I think straight up white makeup wld be too stark so using purple created a softer more neutral whitened face.

I have seen touring Wicked 7 times, but none on Broadway. I always wish they would increase the mic volumes on the cast. The mixing always sounds quiet.

this makes sense. even some bakers use a teeny dot of purple dye in their icing to counteract the yellow from the butter to appear white.

I always found Carol Kane’s makeup plot for Morrible to be fascinating. It’s a bit more “clown-like” than the others. Especially in the final section of the show.
