I love the lighting design for the tardis in 11’s era sm. It showcases his inner turmoil so beautifully. When he had a family, there were beautiful warm colors but a little bit of blue hinting at his inner sadness but the warmth and happiness was overpowering. Then he lost his family and everything turned blue, there was no warmth in his life until he found Clara again; but even then, the blue lights over powered the warm orange showing how much he had changed from the loss of Amy and Rory. You can even see it when he’s informed about Clara passed the one word test. In that scene, you see nothing but blue until Madame Vastra confirms the test. That’s when you see just that little bit of orange coming through. Now that I’ve finished this lovely rant, I realize now that the warm orange could also be linked to the Doctor’s hope and the blue for his loneliness.
