She is underweight. Pregnant. Covered in saddle sores where an ill-fitting saddle rubbed her raw—and the flies are swarming the open wounds. That means someone was still riding A LOT with an ill fitting saddle to leave these healing marks on her back. A brand burned into her side tells us she came from a ranch somewhere. Just another throwaway in a system that sees horses like her—pregnant and broken—as nothing more than meat on a manifest. She ships to Mexico for slaughter TOMORROW. We can’t let that happen. WE WONT LET THAT HAPPEN. That’s why we all rally every month and do THIS. To give them a chance to get out of hell. She deserves a soft place to land. She deserves someone to stand between her and the kill buyer. The name Haven came to me because that’s exactly what she needs—and what we can give her.
