I put iron on patches on the inside and stitch around the edges on every pair of pants/shorts I buy for that exact reason.

The only issue with reinforcing that inner thigh area is 1) it will cut down on mobility, and 2) because it is an area of almost constant friction if it’s bulkier it can actually breakdown faster.

Buy pants that are larger on you and fit around the thigh then take them in to a tailor to be taken in wherever needed. It sucks to have to pay more for what shouldn’t be a problem in the first place but you’ll save more money long term- and they can probably expand the pockets too
