The video showed Prophet placing the c**** in a chokehold, striking him with a charging cable, twisting his ankle, and slapping his face. Prophet claimed he was trying to prevent the student from self-harm, but investigators stated that the footage contradicted his account. During his arrest, body camera footage recorded Prophet expressing surprise upon learning the incident was caught on camera. Prophet had a prior history of legal issues involving m**ors. In 2019, he was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a m**or under 16 while working as a behavioral specialist at South Ocala Elementary. He was accused of inviting a student to his home and engaging in inappropriate conduct. The case resulted in a plea deal where Prophet pleaded guilty to a downgraded charge of attempting to interfere with the custody of a c****. Despite this, he was later hired as principal at Destiny Leadership Academy. Following the 2024 incident, Prophet was terminated from his position at the academy. He is being held without bond at the Marion County Jail, with a court appearance scheduled for June 11, 2024.
