Phillip :
I used to keep bug zappers all over my property, thinking they were solving the mosquito problem. Over time, I learned that they don’t actually work the way most people expect. Bug zappers use ultraviolet light, which attracts moths, beetles, and other harmless or beneficial insects that play important roles in pollination and the food chain. Mosquitoes, on the other hand, aren’t strongly attracted to UV light they’re drawn to carbon dioxide and body heat instead. As a result, the zappers ended up killing large numbers of insects that are crucial to the environment, while doing very little to reduce mosquitoes.

mosquitos are not attracted to light. they are attracted to co2. all that does is kill healthy bugs.

Mosquitoes aren’t attracted to those… they need to emit co2. Light or uv will get them accidentally but they’re not attracted to it

Maybe he was asking if u had heard about how pesticides are killing all bugs, and wiping out a major trophic level of the food chain?

Your bio says PNWDad...I've been all over Oregon and Cali, and there seem to be little to no bugs until you hit Idaho. Just a Kansas native here wondering if it works on all our f#*&ing bugs.

I just have lots of solar lights and hundreds of tree frogs. Haven't seen a sweeter yet this year. Now the gnats are terrible.
