@coaching.gifted: Replying to @Jacqueline Bishop highly intelligent individuals are often part-time adhd. I’m not a medical professional: These tips are from the book Misdiagnosis and Dual diagnoses of gifted children and adults by James T. Webb et al. #highintelligence #highlyintelligent
You flatter us highly-intelligent individuals-------AND, we flatter ourselves, us we highly intelligent individuals. Thank you m'lady!

I don’t understand your explanation about the part when they are interrupted. So when the person finds it difficult to restart their task, the behaviour is linked with ADHD behaviour and when they can start quickly after the interruption, it is a sign of high intelligence. But what if the person has ADHD and is gifted? Even people with high intelligence can’t restart their task quickly because of their ADHD right? So how is this representative for the distinguish??

I have an adhd diagnosis but even though the intelectual stimulation has increased since i began working and i can control my focus, i dont want to be off medication because I go back to being a sleepy zombie all day which was my default until i was 22 and got on meds, no matter how much I slept, and it wasnt iron deficiency either. The way I’d describe it is that it feels like my brain would rather be sleeping 80% of the time

This year I went to at least 10 doctors after I documented my own issues with my skin, certain foods were causing me a skin rash. They were so surface level, one was keen to even leave a scar on my face to do a biopsy because he wouldn’t believe me it’s not rosacea

I noticed that depending on the teacher my grades vary a lot, example if I don’t feel confortable with them I’ll have lower grades and once I switch teachers too one I like I’ll have top grades effortlessly 😅

I'm on a spectrum of my own.
Figured that out years ago I just didn't realise it.
What is happening to much now is I read books or online content from a highly intelligent or highly academic person in a subject I feel I have barely studied or looked into and find most of it is very obvious. I can't hold conversations with people who have studied years in a subject and understand exactly what they are talking about. Often linking things up in the conversation and them saying.. Oh yer I didn't realise that fair play..
It scares me a bit and I really don't understand. I don't come from an academic background but do love learning and find most things interesting even if I'm not interested in them. (if that makes sense)

adhd is not lack of focus, it is a hyper focus on everything, making it hard to focus on one task unless it is mentally stimulating enough to gain the attention
