obstruction, I agree, a complete clog the system doesn't have time to "absorb less heat". it absorbs none at all. it just pumps up. suction drops to zero and it's trying to store the entire system charge in the liquid line and the condenser coil. that pressure rises very quickly. it'll be trapped in a cycle as the low pressure and high pressure safeties trip and reset.
