@drkirren: 👉 EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — a unique and powerful treatment for dealing with disturbing life experiences, often using rapid eye movements.
👉 EMDR is one of the most effective therapies out there, with over 35 years of scientific research behind it. Resaerch shows it can often lead to noticeable improvements faster than many other therapies. It helps the brain reprocess trauma and is used for PTSD, phobias, anxiety, panic, anger, grief — things that have overwhelmed the brain and made you feel like danger is still present.
👉 A lot of people experience powerful, even unexpected, changes through EMDR. If you’re interested, have a look at EMDR Association UK or EMDRIA for international providers. Just a heads up — there are some unqualified or poorly trained practitioners out there, so make sure anyone you see has been trained by the organisations listed on those pages. @WHO Fides #WHOFides #ptsd #PTSDawareness #ptsdrecovery #emdr #emdrtherapy #traumahealing

EMDR works, helped me with my childhood trauma. Someone asked me what it was like and I said it's hard to explain, like your trauma slowly fades and falls away and doesn't stick to you like it did before.

Got my brain to see my abusers as their true pathetic selves, as they have always been, instead of the powerful giants they worked to convince me they were. Peace

The most difficult therapy I’ve ever had BUT so worth it!!! I can actually live and enjoy life instead of being constantly hyper vigilant and living in fear!! I cannot recommend EMDR enough but you have to be ready for the difficult journey and push through for the best outcome EVER!

EMDR is not for complex trauma. I prefer IFS so much more

It’s all groovy unless you suffer from anything like vertigo or unexplained dizziness. Then you’ll end up in the hospital. There should be warnings with EMDR. Watching a pink pong game, or playing, will achieve the same thing as this.

I’m having this experience now. It’s so strange to try to communicate how different it feels. It’s like I can feel my own body now?

for those with CPTSD and other combined MH disorders, EMDR may not be a good option until a few steps are achieved first. For instance, I needed to go through IOP, then compassion therapy, now talk therapy. I imagine EMDR will be appropriate within a year; but it was not helpful to start with. My IDT team saw my reactions and set up a care plan, and now im finally feeling more ready. 2 years later.
