People not realizing Benchmade outsources manufacturing overseas, and they allow product runoffs and QC failures to be marketed through 3rd party distributors as long as they aren't directly marketed as Benchmade. Some mfgs also agree to allow those distributors to sell the same models once a quota has been reached under the brand name. Big reason why you don't see a lot of lawsuits or DMCA's surrounding certain brands. Companies are profiting off 3rd party choices as well. Same quality, lower price, but rely on people favoring name loyalty over a cheaper price.
