I’d say as a little girl the most important part was my dad acting like it’s totally normal and not gross at all.

i would NOT want my dad involved but it's also important to not make her feel like it's gross.

If he doesnt know the answer I think "let's go ask your mom together" is better than "go ask your mom" Periods feel like this secret we have to keep from men and it needs to be normalized early on.

"If you prefer to speak with mom about this, I understand, but I am always here to help with any questions or concerns you have" would be a 15/10 response

I think either parent should be prepared for whoever the child feels most comfortable with

The most important part is not freaking out and making it awkward or embarrassing. Also, instead of telling them to go ask their mom, you should all go and ask, it's a great chance for you to learn something as well, plus, it shows you're interested and that you care

A dad should be informed but he’s right about not understanding. And I feel like the best thing any dad can do is give the facts and listen but ultimately leave what you’re not confident in to the mom

when my daughter asked I said "dads gonna explain it in a science way and moms gonna explain it in a personal way" I need my daughter to trust me for anything and everything, passing it off is a wild statement 🤣

My thought is the dad should learn about it and be there to help eg buy stuff etc, and the mum can take the lead with her experience. Ultimately the dad should learn about it as it’s part of his child’s health and daily life

I never told anyone when I started my period. I hated how everyone acted like it was a big deal, it made me so uncomfortable. Just be chill and you'll do great.

Period poops are actually a thing to talk about. 🩸 Hormones like prostaglandins make your uterus cramp AND your bowels extra active 💨
Cue: more poops. Sometimes weird ones. Sometimes intense. Plus cramps and everything else.

I was raised by a single father, and that man cried and yelled “my baby’s a woman now” idk man…I’m glad he didn’t make it weird but he could’ve been calmer about it 😂

I am 25 and I mentioned needing a tampon in front of my dad and he wigged out. I think it permanently damaged my view of him.
