As an experienced singer, I've had the chance to learn about a bunch of vocal techniques, especially when it comes to breathing. Diaphragmatic breathing has been my go-to support method. Just last year, though, one of my coaches suggested I try coastal breathing instead... and I can say that it was really challenging to keep the rib cage expanded as long as possible. It's been interesting navigating this journey, as I've learned from MANY different coaches... some are absolute professionals, while others are naturally gifted/talented. As a result, it has brought some conflicting ideas and techniques, which keeps things intriguing....

Always Ribs for me. Sometimes I forget, but Breathing (expansion) and maintaining the expansion of the ribs is always a go to, a cure & a reset.

@Teddy Leitner Some ideas about breath support, which can be useful if the passaggio feels a bit pushed with air. The intercostal style should help!

Funny enough operatic teachers often talk about taking deep abdominal breaths .👀 I would rather say most of the time your body provides the efficient support for most singing tones we produce by itself no extra support necessary especially in pop music.

I’m so confused, 4 years later I still don’t know what support is right or which one I actually use. 😅 I hear transverse, rectus abdominis, pelvic floor, kegel, ribs, breathe in the back, breathe more into the sides, breathe low. Open the ribs and keep them open, fill the lower space after… It’s become a soup of muscles names. 🤣
