what your partner does is the right thing , when you close your app like this and then again when you start those apps, it will take extra bit of battery , not closing those apps like this will not take too much battery , thats how ios works,

Your mom actually smart when leaving apps open in the background. It consumes less battery life when phone doesnt have to launch the app again.

When you switch apps, most of them are frozen in the background. They’re not using much (or any) battery or memory.

Yea apple actually says that’s bad for the iPhone it’s a form of force closing which apparently can corrupt the phone if done to much (possibly)

Also, for those saying not to close the background apps - Leaving them open can cause performance issues and cause a battery drain from them refreshing. Source - I work for Apple as a support advisor.

Dang it, when will this misconception die? iPhones are designed to not need that. The function exists to close an app if it isn’t working right. For no other reason should you force close apps on iPhone. Your iPhone will literally perform worse when you do that.
