Glad to see young people still wanting to learn this trade. I went to work in a body shop in 1986 as a cleanup and detail guy, but was determined to learn how to paint. I never attended a trade school. I am 100% self taught. I watched, listened, asked questions, took notes, and practiced at a buddy's shop every chance I got. Ended up becoming a 30 year career auto/semi head painter. Retired from full time in 2016 but still do restorations for myself. It was hard work but I always enjoyed the challenge, and looking back on the accomplishments. I learned every aspect of body and paint but my specialty was refinishing and color matching. My simple advice is that if you're not super serious about it, you're wasting your time ! 👍

When he did that last spray, he paused there for a second, trying to move his feet, and I see that is visible where he paused, would that cause any imperfections? and is there a specific way to move to prevent pausing on 1 spot?

To slow.. tell him to speed up will help with the over lap the over spray and the release on the trigger quick quick quick
