I would love to hear your opinion on someone who is being directly disrespectful because you are holding them accountable to processes they refuse to align with. This has resulted in a tone of disrespect during meetings when questioning those processes.

Girl I wish I saw this 9 months ago. I gaslit myself thinking maybe I was actually being mean! We ended up having an HR meeting with me and the employee. HR said exactly what you said. -signed a Direct person.

But there is a difference in the way people are direct, right? Direct aggressive and direct respectful are certainly different. But yes, mean and direct are v. different.
